Our Sea Urchin Caviar is not only great with Japanese dishes, but also with many other gourmet dishes.

Here are some serving suggestions to get you started:

Uni Donburi Serve on top of rice, with soya sauce and/or lemon juice. Or just enjoy as is!
Uni Appetizer Avacado slices with soya sauce and/or lemon juice, with hint of wasabi.
Sea Urchin stuffed Calamari Boil small squid and chill. Stuff sea urchin into body of squid, cut into rings, and serve.
Sea Urchin Pasta First prepare your favourite pasta to taste. Then mix in whole sea urchin caviar. Add some cod roe (tarako) with it for a true seafood flavour.
Sea Urchin Teriyaki Sauce Mix Sea Urchin Caviar with Mirin and Egg yolk, and use as a sauce for chicken, steak (for the fusion flavour!), or other favourable inventions.
Sea Urchin Croquette Combine Uni Caviar into croquette mix.

Sea Urchin Nutrition Information

Sea Urchin Roe is a rich source of vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E, and zinc. The combination of all these nutrition contents also warms the body and promotes good blood circulation. Very high in protein and zero carbohydrate content.

The Uni Breakdown:

Vitamin B1
  • Helps recover from fatigue.
  • Stabilizes body and mind.
Vitamin B2
  • Metabolizes protein and fat.

If there is a lack of vitamin B1, fatigue and a sense of exhaustion will result. This will affect the muscles, cerebral energy, and mental concentration.

Uni's golden color is a coloring matter called EKINENON. This coloring matter results in vitamin A in the body. The colour of uni has a parallel effect as B-carotene in brightly colored vegetables. Pure vitamin called Animal Retinol is also contained in a sea urchin.

If vitamin A runs short, the membrane weakens and will be more prone to viruses such as the cold. Lack of Vitamin A also results in "chappy" skin, hair loss, and fall of eyesight.

Vitamin E
  • Known to help prevent aging, and promotes healthy skin.
Zinc
  • prevents diabetes
  • prevents a prostate gland obstacle.

Kiku's uni is exceptionally superior - that is why we differentiate ourselves from the rest. Sea Urchin roe is very drastic in taste from one source to another and very possible for mishandling to occur by a source if it is not handled properly. As uni is a very sensitive seafood, be rest assured that Kiku's brand of quality is guaranteed A Number One!

Keeping this in mind, Whisper's Online Magazine for Women describes top quality sea urchin with: "A very fresh, creamy, and 'sweet' floral flavour, sprinkled with a mild and 'nutty' or custardy flavour."
